Sushi King celebrates 30 years of Japanese culinary legacy in Malaysia

From the kaiten belt to your hearts! Sushi King, the Malaysian conveyor belt restaurant chain, rolls out its largest celebration yet with the biggest bonanza this year.

As it celebrates 30 years of serving Malaysians with authentic Japanese flavours, Sushi King is also launching a fresh new look that reflects its innovative spirit and continued dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience.

Since its establishment in 1995, Sushi King has been on a mission to bring authentic Japanese culinary experience closer to everyday Malaysians beyond the exclusivity of fine dining.

Over the years, Sushi King has grown into a key player in the local food scene by championing accessible and affordable Japanese cuisine.

Today, Sushi King outlets nationwide proudly hold halal certification - a commitment started in 2016 to making quality Japanese cuisine accessible to everyone.

“For 30 years, Sushi King has been a part of Malaysia’s colourful dining culture. This anniversary marks not just three decades of serving our beloved customers, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Sushi King.

"Whether it’s a timeless favourite or a hidden gem waiting to be discovered, we want every plate on our Kaiten belt to deliver something memorable with a mix of variety and authenticity.

"Alongside our iconic sushi plates, our freshly made dishes straight from the kitchen add another layer of flavour, enhancing your overall Halal-certified Japanese dining experience.

"We’ve always loved serving our guests with exciting innovations, and this anniversary is all about sharing that joy with every bite and a fresh new look,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Fumihiko Konishi, Founder of Sushi King Sdn Bhd.

The celebration kicked off in Putrajaya today, where Sushi King revealed a peek of its refreshed menu, including a spread of Yakimono and Agemono delectables, on top of over 60 varieties of sushi on its upgraded 100-metre Kaiten belt.

With up to 200 items offered, from bentos and donburi to ramen and udon, guests are invited to indulge in a delightful range of flavours with Sushi King.

Adding to the excitement, Sushi King’s Head Chef, Takeshi Torita, made a special appearance during the event, offering a live demonstration that showcased his sushi-making expertise, through precise salmon slicing that reflected his culinary mastery behind every cut.

Originally from Tokyo, Chef Takeshi brought with him years of experience as a Sushi master in Japan, which he has continued to share with Malaysians through his 12-year journey with Sushi King.

As a pioneer in Malaysia's Japanese culinary scene, Sushi King continues to mark its presence with exciting innovations.

Kicking things off ahead of the anniversary celebration, Sushi King has introduced Wasabi-infused offerings, elevating the familiar condiment into a bold hero flavour across a limited-time menu.

Building on this momentum, the 30th anniversary teases the start of a new chapter for Sushi King, with the Japanese chain set to undergo a gradual transformation in 2025.

This begins with a new, energised store design, showcasing a sophisticated look reflecting the brand’s growth over the years.

The transformation will also be supported by plans for store expansion, targeting ten new locations by the second half of 2025.

To further mark this grand milestone, Sushi King is bringing the celebration to its customers with a special anniversary event where guests are invited to come down to Lower Ground, Centre Court at Alamanda Mall, Putrajaya, from 16 to 18 May 2025, to enjoy over 60 varieties of Japanese treats, with every plate going for only RM3.50!

The celebration will continue at Sushi King outlets nationwide from 20 to 23 May 2025, with fresh new offerings bringing food lovers together for this milestone celebration.

As Sushi King continues to evolve, customers can look forward to the brand’s refreshed look in the coming months of 2025.

Featuring a modernised store design alongside innovative menu offerings, Sushi King remains committed to elevating the dining experience for customers and further establishing itself as the leading choice for halal-certified Japanese cuisine in Malaysia.
